The club is founded by Mike Sims and Liz Burges-Sims. They are accomplished runners, triathletes and endurance athletes who know the challenges of combining training with work and family responsibilities. Embracing training and racing is a significant commitment of both time and resources. As a very busy family with young energetic kids, they have developed a system (unlocked the secrets) to integrating family life into the world of fitness, nutrition planning and multisport training and they want to share this with you!
Their goal is to provide a unique flexible approach to training that takes your particular situation into account and adjusts it to your life so it makes sense. Rigid programs are prone to failure as the stress of family, work or injuries get in the way. When you train with Big Five (online or in-person), you will get the support you need to achieve your goals no matter what life throws your way!
Mike and Liz had the privilege of spending 5 years in South Eastern Africa where they trained and raced in some of the most beautiful yet challenging conditions the world has to offer. Striving to never have a single lens in life, they also came to appreciate the diversity of the people and their cultures and traditions. The name of the club is partially based on Africa’s Big Five animals (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo).
